Professional Piano Tuning in Zurich

Reliable, professional service for families, teachers, and players across the Zurich area.

Hi, I’m Adam. Before relocating to Switzerland, I spent years tuning uprights and grands across London — including work for recording studios such as Metropolis, Konk, British Grove, and Battery.

Whether you need a regular seasonal tune or your piano has sat quiet for years, I offer prompt, reliable care across Canton Zurich.

Happy to have a no-obligation chat in English, French or German – feel free to send me a message via the button below.

Musical Ear, Technical Proficiency

Coming from a sound engineering and audio background, I listen for clean harmonic intervals, tonal balance across the register, and pitch stability that holds under energetic playing.

I learned to tune purely by ear, and still do. Every instrument has its own acoustic character, and tuning by ear ensures the unisons sing naturally in your specific room.

Does my piano need a tune?

When to book a tuning

Zurich’s climate means central heating in the winter and lakeside humidity in the summer—both of which cause soundboards to swell and drop pitch.

Most instruments benefit from an annual visit, but I regularly help clients with:

  • Seasonal or overdue tuning: Restoring pitch after winter heating or years in storage.
  • Recent moves: Letting an instrument settle after transport before bringing it back up to concert pitch.
  • Exams, recordings, or events: Dialling in stability before student recitals or recording sessions.
  • Sticking keys & pedal squeaks: Diagnosing and resolving small mechanical quirks during the appointment.

Client Reviews

From studios, musicians and families in London

  • “Adam is an absolutely fantastic tuner. He himself is a real musician with great ears and a true love of pianos. I can’t recommend him highly enough.“
    Jonathan Berman
    Conductor – London, UK
  • “I was referred to Adam by a musical school student who told me that many of her classmates would find Adam to fine tune their pianos too. That speaks it all! So far Adam had helped us to fine tune twice our very old piano (nearly 40 years old already…) and every time after he fixed it, it just sounded perfect again… Also he was always able to come as soon as possible, one time even during an early snowy morning! Thank you so much for being so helpful and professional! “
    Vivian Kwong
    London, UK
  • “Super pleased with Adam’s work tuning my Yamaha CP70 – a weird electroacoustic piano most tuners seem to want to avoid, and which I’ve had mixed results getting tuned in the past. Adam is super friendly and professional, and the piano now sounds absolutely beautiful.“

Popular questions

Typically a tuning takes about 1-2 hours, depending on the condition of the instrument and when it was last tuned. Of course, instruments that haven’t been touched in a long time will most likely need a second pass for fine tuning, this inevitably adds more time.

I offer some basic piano regulation services, such as fixing sticky keys, silencing squeaky pedals, or tightening loose action parts, all included in the standard tuning fee.

I am first and foremost a tuner, not a full piano technician; having come from a music and engineering background, I appreciate the craft but will refer people to other dedicated piano technicians for more involved restoration work.

It’s generally advised to let the piano acclimatise to the temperature and humidity of its new room for roughly 2 to 3 weeks after a move before tuning it. This ensures the wood and strings settle so the tuning holds properly. All that being said, if needs must and you have the home recital of the century coming up the same week, an earlier tuning certainly won’t be the end of the world!

I cover all of Zurich City, the Gold Coast (Zollikon, Küsnacht, Meilen, Stäfa), the Silver Coast (Kilchberg, Thalwil, Horgen), and surrounding areas within 20 km. If you are slightly further afield, just get in touch and I’ll happily let you know if I can make the trip. If not, I can also try and connect you to a local tuner nearer you!
